Indoor Climbing takes place at the Kirkwall Grammar School (KGS) games hall on Thursday evenings. Access via swimming pool entrance. New members welcome from beginners to experienced.
Indoor climbing runs from September till the end of June. During June we will be outdoors if weather permits on thursday evenings so check events/meets link before setting out for KGS.
From June to September we will be outside at various cliffs. Normally a Tuesday and Thursday night and either a Saturday or Sunday. Look in the events and meets link on the website or contact one of the committee members for details of where we might be meeting.
If you are a beginner and want to come outdoors please get in touch with one of the committee members first so we can take a helmet / harness out for you. There are no charges for outdoor meets.
Under 18's to be accompanied by parent or appointed guardian at all club meets.
NOTE: Any advice or instruction given at club meets is given from club member to club member(or potential club member) and is not in any official capacity.Apart from inductions for the KGS wall,which are carried out by or under the supervision of OIC approved instructors,as/OIC conditions for the use of the wall.
Orkney Climbing Club is affiliated to the Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS). This provides all members with public liability insurance,and benifits such as use of club huts in the uk,discounts at various outdoor suppliers of up to 10%, etc. Check out the MCofS web site for more information.
Climbing/Mountaineering is a sport with the risk of serious injury or death. All members or prospective members must take full responsibility for their own safety,and the safety of their siblings at all times.
Need Maps or Gps equipment? If you do need any equipment, the club which will receive commission if we shop through them. Please use the link for the Ordnance Survey and you will be helping the club.
