ORKNEY CLIMBING CLUB

New members welcome.  Come to the kgs wall for the 7.15-8.15pm session on thursday nights.

After two trial weeks you must do an induction session  and join the club if you wish to continue climbing on club nights.

The induction session ensures that you are safe and competent in climbing ,using safety equipment , harness etc , and that you can belay and lower a climber satisfactorily. For junior members under 11yrs old who are not permitted to belay each other , an accompanying parent or responsible adult can join and be shown how to belay etc for their child. All members involved in climbing and or belaying must pay club membership.

Juniors £15/year.  Adults,climbing and non-climbing £20/year. This ensures that all members are covered by the mcofs civil liability insurance.

Child protection policy is that as adopted by mcofs and can be viewed on the mcofs web site.

In addition all climbing wall supervisors have had enhanced crb checks ie tim , don , ian and bobby. Indoor club nights cannot take place unless an oic approved supervisor is present. It is also club policy for indoor or outdoor meets that members under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or designated responsible adult at all times.

The 8.15-9.30 session on Thursdays is solely for older club members who have been inducted.

 Members and potential members are reminded that climbing is a high risk activity with the danger of serious injury or death and must take responsibilty for ensuring their own safety at all times.
